Ready to Adopt a Löwchen?
These pleasant little pups are rare, but boy are they worth the wait! Here are several different ways you can become the proud parent of a Löwchen.
Adopt a Puppy.
Löwchen breeders typically have between one to three litters a year. Contact a breeder (listings below) to find out when they anticipate pups are on the way. Given how rare Löwchens are, you may have to put your name on a wait list.
Adopt a Breeding Dog.
Want to help preserve this amazing little breed? Some breeders will coordinate litters with pet owners. You’ll keep your pup intact so that it can have one or two litters before it’s spayed or neutered. Ask your breeder for more information.
Adopt a Retiree.
When a pup retires from breeding (usually at the age of 4 or 5), they’re often in need of a good home. This is a great option for those who don’t have time to puppy train, or who are too excited to wait until the next litter.
Adopt a Rescue.
Sometimes Löwchens need to be moved to a new home. Through the LCC’s Löwchen Rescue Program, pups are returned to breeders, who then work to find them a nice family. If you’re open to adopting a rescue, let your breeder know.
